Deep Purple California Jam '74

I'm pretty sure I saw this as a rerun back in the late 70s, as I was still listening to Elton John and very young in 1974. When I saw this show, it looked to me as though these guys were just the ultimate rock stars. The way they dressed, t...he youthful confidence during performance, Blackmore's sneering and angry attitude...everything seemed larger than life. And I saw them as my very first heavy metal show (even if it was just tv), I'd only seen the usual top 40 stuff before this. Obviously this show left a massive impression on me, and I still get mega-goosebumps from the Coverdale/Hughes interplay, not to mention a red hot Jon Lord just bringing the heavy rock immortality, Jerry Lee Lewis by way of Gustav Mahler.
